bear with me movement

    My Story

    Hello, I’m Suzanne

I'm the founder of bear me in mind.

My love for teddy bears and soft toys began when I was very young and has stayed with me into adulthood. It’s something I inherited from my dad.

Throughout my life, especially from the age of 11 when I started facing serious health challenges and later being diagnosed with Crohn's Disease aged 13, my bears became much more than toys — they became a source of real emotional comfort.

Each time I went into hospital, my dad would bring me a new teddy bear or soft toy to keep me company. Over the years, they not only brought me comfort during long, difficult days, but they also physically supported me — helping to cushion and protect me after countless surgeries.

My bears are woven into my life’s story; they are symbols of love, resilience and hope.

The bear with me movement and bear me in mind were born from this lifelong connection. I know first-hand the powerful role a bear can play in someone’s life, and I believe that every pre-loved teddy bear & soft toy still has so much love to give.

Sadly, many beautiful teddy bears & soft toys end up in landfill when they could so easily be re-loved and hugged once again. By rescuing, restoring, and rehoming them, we not only give them a chance of another hug, we also make a small but meaningful difference to the planet, whilst helping to support charities along the way.

Every bear deserves a new story, and every story deserves to be shared.

    Your story

    Grown, but not alone.

Welcome to the Bear With Me Movement — where bears don’t come with an age limit.

The bear with me movement is a space where stories matter - stories of bears who have travelled through childhood, comforted during tough times, joined you on adventures, or simply sat quietly by your side when you needed them the most.

Whether your bear has been with you for decades, or you've just welcomed one from our shop into your world, we want to hear your journey.

This is about celebrating the bond between people and their bears - about saying out loud and proud - "Yes I still love my bear!". Because the more we talk about it, the more we realise just how many of us find comfort, courage and connection in these sewn-up souls.

So whether you sleep with your childhood bunny, keep a tiny bear on your desk for luck, or have just re-homed one from us, this is your invitation to share. No judgement, just gentle joy.

#thebearwithmemovement - share your bear, share your story and help us show the world that soft hearts are strong hearts too.

Please use the hashtag above on Instagram, or contact us so we can share on our website. Send photos of yourself and of course your bear!

    Lilly’s Story

    Lumpy

I’ve had lumpy ever since I was tiny and I can promise you I’ll have him forever.

Growing up Lumpy has always been under my arm in bed, to the point where it feels uncomfortable to sleep without him now! Through the day, through the night, the good and bad times he’s always been there, he knows me better than anyone.

Throughout my life I’ve faced my challenges with Sepsis and more mentally with anxiety in the later years. Lumpy for me was someone who was ALWAYS going to be there no matter what. Not relying on a message or a call to get through to someone to talk to, but to carry him around with me whenever I need him. He kept me very calm in hospital when I was facing my needle fear and he was amazing to rant to when I felt I needed to get something off of my chest whilst facing my anxiety too. There’s never boundaries on what I let out to him and it’s safe to say he’s seen me at my absolute worst yet he still stuck by my side through it all.

On the other hand, he’s also seen me at my very best dancing around my room, with a massive grin on my face and laughing to the point of tears. I’m never embarrassed of talking about him or taking him anywhere as it’s only fair he gets to experience what I do too! Every flight, every night away from home and every sleepover he ALWAYS comes with me. We are a package deal :)

As I’ve gotten older I’ve had him tattooed on my hip so he’s always by my side no matter where I am. He’s one thing I’m very certain on in my life, and to most it might just be a silly toy but to me he’s my bestest friend.

The smell of him, the way his head tilts when he sits and the way he’s missing a strand of hair is all part of me growing up and loving him. I wouldn’t change him for the world and I would love for more people to have the chance to find comfort in a little friend of their own.
